Two therapists working in synchronised rhythm for a deeper release
In a four hands massage, two therapists work on you at the same time, mirroring each other's strokes so that both sides of the body receive identical attention in the same moment. The effect is distinctive: the brain cannot follow two sets of movements at once, stops anticipating the next stroke and lets go far more quickly than it does under a single pair of hands.
The technique underneath is usually Swedish or relaxing, sometimes with warm oil, and the therapists rehearse their choreography beforehand. It is offered by spas with the staff to pair up, by agencies, and by independent therapists who work together regularly rather than in ad hoc combinations.
Sessions are 60 minutes as a rule, occasionally 90, and are priced close to double a single treatment. It is booked as a treat or a gift more than as a routine, and needs advance notice because two diaries have to be aligned. Do not confuse it with a couples massage, which is two clients and two therapists in the same room.
Also known as: 4 hands massage, two therapist massage, synchronised massage.

Mobile therapists for hotels and offices across Glasgow, two-therapist bookings available
Four hands is one client treated by two therapists at once. Couples massage is two clients, each treated by their own therapist, in the same room.
Between 1.8 and 2 times the single rate, so typically £90 to £150 for an hour outside London and £130 to £220 in the capital.
At least a few days. Spas and agencies need to roster two therapists together, and independent pairs may only work together on certain days.
